If you are well prepared you can improve your self-confidence and communication skills enabling you to feel stronger and more comfortable. You can do this by role playing a challenging situation so you will be equipped to deal with uncomfortable or challenging situations. Positive self-affirmations enhance positive thinking and self-respect. This will not only affect your psyche positively, but also, through repetition it will raise your awareness of it. Peer coaching is another tool which can help build resilience. It involves creating a collaborative and reciprocal relationship with a colleague in order to develop reflective practice, self-awareness and problem-solving skills, and reflect on performance through feedback. Another good way to combat stress and build resilience is mindfulness. Lots of us think about the past and focus too much on the future and we often don’t focus what’s going on in the present moment. Mindfulness can help Social Care Workers manage stress and anxiety, as well as enhance emotional literacy and self-awareness, aid critical reflection and facilitate active listening. It’s important to make time to spend with friends and loved one who will support and encourage you. Taking too work on is not good for your mental. You must be able to say no if you feel the work is overpowering you. If not you might suffer from burnout which affects many people in the Social Care
