The holocaust lasted 12 years. There were many dangers of being a certain race or religion in the 1930’s and ‘40’s, as talked about in the article Auschwitz (Concentration Camp). Lots and lots of people died from malnourishment and gas chambers, but sometimes the chambers would get overcrowded, so they had a method to deal with that. “Between May 15th and July 9th, 1944, some 438,000 Hungarian Jews were shipped on 147 trains to Birkenau, stretching the camp’s resources for killing beyond all limits. In the article, “Concentration Camps”, it talks about the horrible, inhuman things that the Nazis put Jews, homosexuals, mentally ill, and Gypsies in Auschwitz. Hitler really didn’t like Jews, and researchers argue that he had plans to annihilate them before becoming dictator. “Contemporary scholars argue that Adolf Hitler began to think about placing Jews in concentration camps years before rising to power. However, the idea was set in motion when he became chancellor of Germany and began to persecute and imprison alleged communists.” Hitler really was a bad guy, and today, former Auschwitz guards are being charged with
