There are many times a weapon gets into the hands of the wrong person and many people suffer from it, young and old. People mostly focus on how many people died throughout the year(s) and not by how many lives were saved, homes were protected, and how many people that were involved in a scene did not get injured. The number also does not count how many burglars and intruders got scared from privately owned guns. There are contradicting views on this topic. Some feel their lives have been saved because they were able to carry a concealed weapon and others say innocent lives were lost because of the firearm regulations.
In 1986, there were only a few states that had a shall-issue law. Now, in 2016, there are no states that have a no issue law, eight may issue, thirty-three shall-issue, and nine unrestricted. Unrestricted means there is no restriction on who can carry a concealed weapon. Shall-issue means there are more individuals permitted to carry a concealed weapon. My-issue means the person has to show a reason why they want or need to carry a concealed weapon. No issue means exactly that, nobody is permitted to carry a concealed weapon.

Residents of those impoverish, crime ridden areas are not going to get the protection that is supposed to come with the Law. Instead, they will see an influx of crime because of greater access to the weapons due to the increased circulation. Another social justice issue that is raised when discussing the Concealed Carry Law is the racial and economic divide of the permit holders. For example, the South and West Side neighborhoods of Englewood, West Englewood and West Garfield have a combined total of 114,933 residents, however only 193 permits have been issued, roughly less than .7 percent of the population.…

One reason why any citizen who does not have a criminal record should not be able to carry a concealed weapon is because it increases the chances of something minor turning lethal. For instance, if a man confronted another man at a bar about something minor, the confrontation could turn into a screaming match and the man with the concealed weapon could shoot the other man. These chances can increase also when the person with the concealed weapon is intoxicated, afraid, or angry. Another reason why citizens should not be able to carry concealed guns is because most adults who carry them are not properly trained. Police officers should be the only ones able to manage public safety so innocent bystanders do not get shot as well.…

Going to college is such an overwhelming time for any student, traditional or non-traditional. You should have a sense of security when you go to school. However, in today’s age, this is not a guarantee due to the unpredictable nature of some individuals. With that being said, sitting next to someone possibly carrying a concealed weapon is not a comforting thought either. While a handgun could end an active shooting situation, the conceal carry permit should be prohibited on college campuses and universities because students lack sufficient training on how to handle and shoot a gun and do not always have a sound mindset making it unsafe for all.…

According to the website, Concealedguns.ProsCons.org, it states that, “Seven states allow carrying a concealed weapon on public college or university campuses, twenty-one states ban concealed weapons on campus, and twenty-two leave the decision up to the individual college or university,” (Concealed Guns…). Just by looking at the overall statistics it gives a better look at how many states actually allow for Concealed Carry. There is a video debate between John R. Lott, Jr., and Julie Gavran, where Lott states that between the years 1987 to 2012, 2.1 million Americans got a permit and between that time only 168 or 0.008% got their hand gun license revoked. This is an important statistic because it shows that in less than a thirty-year span, a small handful of people actually lost their privilege to have a conceal hand gun license…
