Concealed Carriers In Danger

Improved Essays
Concealed carriers are in more and more danger when having to warn people. The carriers and people around are getting hurt because of it. Concealed carriers should not have to warn before shooting a robber or intruder.
Warning before shooting could put carriers in danger. In the english 12 survey, a female responded. “No warning could put me in danger” she went on to explain that if she warns someone it gives them a chance to attack first. Another survey from a male says, “if the intruder threatens you need to act quickly.” the male explained that he would not have time to warn someone if they were coming after him. Intruders could be carrying weapons. If an intruder has a weapon or a robber has a weapon it puts everyone around in danger.

In My survey a question was do you believe concealed carriers should have to warn a person before shooting. More than 90 percent of the answers were yes unless he or she has a gun. Many people went on to explain that if the person has a gun that if they tried to warn them they felt they would be putting themselves in more danger. When they explained what should happen with a concealed carrier warning people they said it really should depend on the amount of danger everyone is in. If there is a person that is in the street with a knife and threatens to hurt someone and it's a concealed carrier the carrier should warn because the person only has a knife. In another situation if the other person has a gun he can kill you immediately in that case the carrier should not warn and just shoot. As long as you can identify them as dangerous and they have a dangerous weapon you should not have to warn. One survey person approached me and wanted to talk to me in person. She explained she liked my topic and thought she could help because she does concealed carry. I asked her how she felt about warning people. She explained to me that in theory it is a good idea to warn people. What she told me is that yes warning people is good unless it is going to put me or other people in danger. She went on saying the …show more content…
Concealed carrying is supposed to protect you and others in a dangerous situation when someone threatening is going to hurt you. Lets go back to the grocery store situation. The man with the gun is robbing the grocery store to get money from the clerk. In a carriers situation you want to down the man because he is threatening to kill. If you threaten “im gonna shoot you”, the man will try to shoot someone. If you do not warn and just shoot the man is dead and cannot shoot anyone. Another example of this is another person I interviewed. This man talked about when he took the classes to get licensed to conceal carry. He spoke about what the instructor said about self defense. “When i was taking the class if you were ever gonna defend yourself he said shoot them in the head so their is no one to prosecute you.” He went on to say that his instructor talked about how self defense is faulty. He explained when you shoot someone in self defense there are so many ways if the person doesn't die that they can turn it around on you. One way is warning if you don't warn then it's on you, and if the person isn't carrying a weapon. If you shoot more then once the police can turn it on you and say you murdered them because it took more than one

The majority of the population want to have a way to feel safe, whether it be accomplished by staying in a group or carrying a concealed pistol. Having the reassurance of carrying a concealed pistol gives many people peace of mind. For instance, a young female college student walking across the dimly lit college parking lot will feel safer knowing that she has a way to properly defend herself if an attacker confronts her. The safer a person feels the more confidence they will have along with the ability to stay calm in a heated situation. An unarmed person may feel as they do not have the power it takes to fend off an attacker, but if such a person was armed they would feel they have something to keep them safe.…

But for some professions, like those who are constantly coming in contact with people who have violent or criminal history, it is crazy to think they wouldn’t be armed. This is the true fact for community correction officers.…

One of these permit holders said that women "need to be able to defend their home and defend themselves if they go out. It's just a safety issue." Another study by criminologist Gary Kleck, PhD, said that "robbery and assault victims who used a gun to resist were less likely to be attacked or to suffer an injury than those who used any other methods of self-protection." And even another study said that when someone pulls out a concealed gun in self-defense, the criminal retreats 55.5% of the time. Furthermore, Hasselstrom had the same moral dilemma when she was considering buying a firearm. Hasselstrom states, “The preparation was mental: convincing myself I could actually shoot a person” (Hasselstrom, 13). Women have to be physically and mentally ready to stop an attacker and cannot hesitate so she will not be a victim. Furthermore, if women panic and are not properly trained to use a handgun the situation could go far worse than expected. Possessing a firearm should not be the only way for a woman to protect herself from danger.…

The right in which a person has to carry a concealed weapon has come to decreasing crime. Throughout multiple surveys and studies a lot of promising facts based upon the facts of a person carrying a concealed weapon have been proven to being true. Some fact that could help to prove the past statement could be shown by the statement that there have been: “1600 fewer murders, 4200 fewer rapes and 60000 fewer severe assaults” alone in the state of Pennsylvania (Reynolds and Burnett 30). So in turn based merely upon these facts it has been proven that allowing a citizen to carry a concealed weapon has come to being a positive attribute to society. Ms. Collins herself stated, “If she had been carrying her licensed gun, she would have averted the…
