Foundation 25, 30). Additionally, consumers age 18-24 have grown up “with cell phone awareness” and “experience[e] cell phones as a part of their everyday lives” (ComScore). Consumers age 25-34 “fall in between two distinct age groups: those who grew up with cell phone knowledge and those who did not,” but a large majority have adopted cell phones as their main tool of communication (ComScore). 98% of consumers age 18-29, and 97% of consumers age 30-49 own a mobile phone. A majority of these consumers use their phone for communication, internet access, email and text communication, listen to music, and use location and direction information, and 19% (at the time of the survey) had used their cell phone for an emergency situation the past 30 …show more content…
The largest competition for the firm’s current product are solar powered external chargers, portable hand crank USB chargers, hydroelectric chargers, thermoelectric chargers, and portable wind energy chargers, as these all have clean energy solutions to powering a mobile device and are portable. Aside from the more traditional portable clean energy chargers listed above, the firm’s closest competition is InStep NanoPower, which is a firm that creates shoes with the capability of charging a phone after use, and uses mechanical energy derived from the users walking and running (InStep NanoPower). Nevertheless, the Never Dead mobile charger appears to have some strong advantages over its competition. The firm’s product is approximately the size of a deck of cards, and could easily fit inside a pocket or be clipped on a waistband. As the consumer is walking or running the product stores the energy created and the consumer access the product whenever necessary. This is an advantage compared to most portable chargers, …show more content…
The user clips the charger onto their belt, and the more they move, the more power will be generated. The founder’s scientific backgrounds in fields such as engineering and biotechnology were instrumental to the development of this idea. Additionally, the founder’s experiences while camping and hiking gives them market insight. There are few ways to keep a mobile phone charged while hiking or on a camping trip, and most are relatively inconvenient, such as portable mobile phone chargers that must be charged before-hand. The Never Dead charger charges itself based on how much the user moves. Due to the technology, the founders believe that the kinetic energy based mobile phone charger would be most suitable for consumers who partake in outdoor activities. The product will therefore be tailored to specifically fit their needs and be appealing to that

In his academic career, he found that the traditional way of power generating wastes about 60% energy. While with the thermoelectric technology people can generate electricity from wasted heat and it can improve efficiency in 10% to 25%. By using his own technology, Matt started a company called alphabet energy and producing superior thermoelectric device. He narrowed his targets to four industries: automotive, aerospace, power generation and manufacturing.…

Morgan removed his financing from Nikola Tesla’s Wardenclyffe Tower project because he thought that it would give free electricity for all (Haliburton, 2006). This kind of thinking is what has kept wireless electricity hidden from the public for this long. New evidence and general facts about wireless electricity has come a long way, and that way of thinking is rapidly vanishing. Society is rapidly gravitating in the direction of the notion of wireless electricity because of the recent flow of ecological and economic awareness. Power companies are even behind the idea, they see it as a way to increase their business.…

Introduction New Battery design that could help the world go green even more. Researchers has discovered a new design which runs on low temperatures, giving generation of batteries the jolt they need to make it to market. To start producing this product it’s going to be expensive one way we could lower the cost is create electrodes from liquid meatls. What this will do is separating one another by liquid electrolyte, which will help charge the ions through the battery. “This looks like an important step in the right direction,” says George Crabtree, who directs the Joint Center of Energy Storage Research at Argonne National Laboratory in Lemont Illinois.…

Batteries take advantage of electrochemical reactions, to transform energy from electricity to chemical and vice versa, through the electrochemical cells (Luo et al., 2014). The classification of batteries is a huge subject which is out of the scope of the current report and the numbers on tables 1 and 2 are just an indication. Flywheels are mechanical devices which can rotate using excess energy, and produce electricity by slowing the rate of rotation connecting them to a generator (Arup, 2013). Energy storage can be also achieved using Supercapacitors, which are normal capacitors with high capacitance but small size. The difference with BES is that the storage does not relies on electrochemical processes but on static charge (Hadjipaschalis et al., 2009).…

Supercapacitors are also usually more expensive per unit than batteries. Technically, it is possible to replace the battery of a cell phone with a supercapacitor, and it will charge much faster. But, it will not stay charged for long. Supercapacitors are very effective, however, at accepting or delivering a sudden surge of energy, which makes them a fitting partner for batteries. Primary energy sources such as internal combustion engines, fuel cells and batteries work well as a continuous source of low power, but cannot efficiently handle peak power demands or recapture energy because they discharge and recharge slowly.…

An airport is a great place to find lines of people that do nothing but have their heads glued to their phones while waiting for their flight. Sadly, I am of those mindless zombies, who sits at the tables with the provided charging ports with my phone in hand and my face staring blankly down at the screen. Often when I am in that position, I find myself scanning the environment to see people scramble in a rush to plug their phones in before it hit 0%. When I see people perform such actions, I often wonder, where does the electricity come from to charge those mindless media consumption devices? Here in Oregon, my home State which is known for constant rain, the electricity comes from a wide variety of resources such as coal and petroleum to nuclear energy.…
