I am writing to apply for the faculty position in K12 Technology and Engineering at the Department of Technological Studies (DTS). My academic training in engineering and technology education, combined with my teaching and research experience focusing on STEM education in K-12 and postsecondary settings, is well aligned with the desired qualifications you indicated in the position description.

I have in-depth knowledge and expertise in mechanical engineering and computer technology and have recently received my PhD in Engineering Education from Utah State University (USU). I acquired a broad range of knowledge in education research from formal coursework and basic knowledge in learning and cognitive sciences from summer schools and online learning. The formal coursework included, but was not limited to, Quantitative methods (EDUC-6570 and 6600), Qualitative methods (EDUC-6670), Design of Experiments (STAT-5200), Finance and Grant Writing (EED-7460), Cognition in Engineering and Technology Education (ETE-7010), and Foundation of Curriculum (TEAL-6150). The summer schools I attended included the International Spatial Cognition Summer Institute at the University of California, Santa Barbara and the LearnLab at Carnegie Mellon University.

My dissertation reflects the interdisciplinary nature of STEM education research in which computer technology and theories of learning science are employed to enhance student learning in engineering courses. Specifically, I used mixed…
