A major in Computer Science has always been what I have wanted to achieve. My brain is constantly in a state of self imposed hyperactivity. I have excelled
in creating new puzzles in order for my brain to get its daily dose of
adrenaline. However the adrenaline rush i got from my first puzzle would last
much longer than expected, becoming my own personal stalker.
When I first got asked the question such as every other child is, what do you
want to be when you grow up? I excitedly declared that I aspired to become a
puzzle solver while ranting to my teacher and peers about the latest puzzle I
had solved. This however was followed by my teacher rejecting my idea on the
basis that there …show more content…
During the following time period, when I confronted the idea of my
possible future ideal job being just a myth off my imagination, I however
became acutely aware of all the puzzles that people stumbled upon daily and a
spark was rekindled.
My teachers would often preach during math class not to ask questions on why
equations were done in certain manners, ''Just do it the way it is meant to be
done and you will pass the test next week." Why was that equation the one that
was universally followed? If we didn't question the make of the model then how
could we know if there was a more efficient method? I marveled at the abstract
phenomenon in the world's job list and the empty slot that remained when it
concerned a professional puzzle solver, a job that would specialize in solving
puzzles that were creating so many problems. Eventually these puzzles evolved
during my math class into techniques that could be implemented as a solution to
faulty calculator programming errors. In science the question became, how could
we create a program with the capabilities to predict the structure of a
protein, only through the amino acid sequence? Inevitably I found that these
puzzles were not as innocent as they seemed and was forced to confront the …show more content…
If most of our life's decisions were influenced by the
technology that assisted us through a series of programs and software, then how
easier could we make this, while also seeing how much harder we could make it
for people to steal personal information through technology?
For one of our class projects we created a secure solar powered bench, with a
Wi-Fi hotspot that would allow people to charge their phones, while gaining a
safe internet connection. For another school project I created a fake Wi-Fi
hotspot at a local Starbucks in order to see how easy it would be to steal
people's information. This Starbucks would be my playpen for a whole week and
the customers would be my experimental mice. By the end of the trial
experiment, 65% of the customers who came into Starbucks, established a
connection with the fake Wi-Fi server. Security warnings, that were provided by
apps and security protections remained neglected, facilitating the flow of
personal information. I was able to see their unencrypted data, any information
that was sent through i was able to see.
As a part of the Alamo academies we had to partake in a summer internship
