What is Mechanical Engineering?
Engineering is the application of science and mathematics by which the properties of matter and the sources of energy in nature are made useful to people (Merriam-Webster, 2015). Mechanical engineering is a specific branch of engineering that deals with mechanisms. Michigan Technological University defines it as the application of the principles and problem-solving techniques of engineering from design to manufacturing to the marketplace for any object. The principles that mechanical engineers use are those of mathematics and physics. They apply these and the …show more content…
It would stand to reason that this convention came, indirectly, from him. As the Industrial Revolution came into full swing, machines that increased production and, in some cases, replaced human workers began to be created. As one could guess, being a mechanical engineer takes quite a bit of training. Mechanical engineers must earn at least a bachelor’s degree. This is due to the sheer amount of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) knowledge that is needed to complete projects and design systems.
