Systems must be designed and maintained to reach expected performance and quality standards (Heizer & Render, 2014). In most organizations, reliability affect their ability to provide a quality product or service to their customers and vendors. Krispy Kreme has maintenance professionals that are specifically trained to maintain and repair their equipment. It is done through both scheduled and routine maintenance practices. Scheduled maintenance is the level of maintenance that requires planning, allocation of a significant amount of time, and high degree of coordination between different departments, and is typically initiated through a work order (Business Dictionary, n.d.). It is a direct contributor to a piece of equipment operating at its prime and allowing the company to properly forecast for production.
