Inventions affect every aspect of our lives. These inventions have impacted and changed the way we work, manage, and live. A machine has done all this and more which now exists in almost every household and business. This vital device is the computer. The electronic device has around for about half a century. However, its real impact on the American brass happened in the last 40 years. From the first wooden abacus to the most advanced microprocessor, computer have made our lives better.

In the early 1800s, mathematics professor Charles Babbage designed an automatic calculation machine. It was steam powered and could store up to 1000 50-digit numbers. The operations that were built into his machine included the fundamentals of a basic

This group of computers involved the computers using RAM( Random Access Memory), a form of memory that is designed to give instantaneous access to any particular piece of information. Computers in this generation had punched card input and output devices and RAMs of 1000 word capacity. In addition, they were smaller than ENIACs. Compared to earlier machines, this was a major improvement. However the first generation of stored program computers required considerable maintenance. By the mid 1950s, a group of machines including the EDVAC and UNIVAC, was the first commercially available computers. This gave managers even more power because they can now produce large numbers in such little time. The EDVAC was a computer that could hold any program that was calculated. This is possible due to having more internal memory than any other computer. The UNIVAC was created by Mauchly and Eckert( the same creators of the ENIAC). They had both formed the Mauchly-Eckert Computer Corporation. This was America 's first computer company in the 1940s! They had begun to run out of funds as they were developing the UNIVAC which caused them to sell their company. Both of them eventually built a successful UNIVAC …show more content…
Firstly, vacuum tubes was used which is the device that controls the electric current between electrodes in an evacuated container. After years, transistors were used as a replacement of vacuum tubes because they were cheaper and more efficient. In 1959, a man named Robert Noyce, a physicist invented the integrated circuit which was a tiny chip of silicon that contained an entire electronic circuit. Now, computers have began to become smaller in size, more reliable, and have more capacity. These new discoveries quickly found their way being new models of digital computers. Machines are becoming more expensive to purchase. Computers are transforming rapidly.

The computer has evolved and advanced over the years and keeps on improving. It has played a key role in every aspect of our lives. Discoveries have led to the advancement of modern day computers. The computer had impacted people 's lives. In addition, it has affected the way others work and play. It has made difficulty of the most complex problems to making life easier by doing our work. The computer is one of the most amazing inventions ever created in history to influence life. This vital device has benefited society and comes from a deep and significant

This had given Mauchly the idea to create a computer to give outputs of trajectory for both water and air craft, because it would had taken a person a longer time to complete the trajectory. Thus, the ENIAC project began in 1943; however the ENIAC had flaws, which were that there were little storage, too many tubes, and had lengthy reprogramming. John Von Neumann had became the new consultant and created ENIAC’s successor EDVAC. The difference is that the EDVAC has five functioning parts: the central control, central arithmetic part, memory, input organs and output organs. Even though it was completed after the war, it was later used in the Cold War for calculating the construction of the hydrogen…

On May 3, 1972 the case of Honeywell vs. Sperry Rand was decided [3]. This case was for patent infringement of ENIAC on the earlier works of John Vincent Atanasoff. Atanasoff had shown Mauchly and Eckert, the creators of parts of ENIAC, sketches, plans and ideas for an electronic computer. Atanasoff claimed that these ideas used in the earlier ABC, were also used in ENIAC; without proper credit to Atanasoff and Berry [3]. Over the course of the court case it was shown that John Mauchly had a great deal of interaction with Atanasoff, Berry, and their computer.…
