In the criminal justice field there are a number of jobs and one of those jobs is Computer Forensics. Now computer forensics is defined as the practice of collecting, analyzing and reporting on digital data in a way that is legally admissible (forensiccontrol.com. n.d.). All of this is done by the use of detecting and prevention of a crime as well as in any dispute where some evidence may be stored digitally. Furthermore, they follow the same or similar processes as other forensic disciplines, and faces some if not all of the same issues (forensiccontrol.com. n.d.). However, there are several areas of crimes or dispute where computer forensics cannot be used (forensiccontrol.com. n.d.). Now most computer forensics investigators start their careers in the military or in other law enforcement jobs. Therefore, their training consists or must consist of investigation, management, incident handling, Internet crime, network security, and accounting because of the type of crimes they deal with on a daily basis. Furthermore, in some states a computer and network forensic investigator are required to be a licensed private investigator (collegemouse.com. n.d.). Therefore, they have to also keep up with the rapidly changing technologies as well as regularly complete continuing education and additional training throughout their careers (collegemouse.com. …show more content…
Now this means that the evidence that was found had to be found or obtained by the means of a search warrant. Therefore, this means that it is authentic and validated as well as has not been tampered with by anyone. However, if there is a case where the evidence is damage, destroyed, or compromised in any way then it becomes inadmissible in the case. Therefore, if the evidence that is in question does not look as it did in the photos that was actually taken of the evidence at the crime scene than a judge could say that they evidence is not what it appeared to be at the scene therefore, it cannot be used. Furthermore, ensure that all of the proper protocols were followed in getting the computer and all of the evidence it obtained. Therefore, make sure that everything that is supposed to be with the computer is with it such as power connections, disk drive, thumb drive if it was found inside of the computer, floppy disks and any other software or hard ward that was
