Usually Norwegian teenagers do not have a curfew, and do not have to ask permission to go out. The dating is no problem in Norway, because usually Norwegian teenagers do not date. They get drunk and have sex, for then to start knowing each other on a deeper basis than their names. Norwegian teenagers are free to make their own mistakes, while their parents do not look over they shoulders like hawks. Another matter is that the legal age to drink alcohol in Norway is 18, in America it is 21. Probably something there to.
Socialisation – America’s youth often go out on bowling, roller-skating or meet in restaurants. In Norway, these activities would be so expensive; students would have been bankrupt before they could say “fun!” For Norwegians meeting in each other’s houses or going to parties is the right way to socialise.

Through the presentation of Norway in the 1800’s I gained the understanding that men were the bread winners and the dominant in the relationship and vice versa for the women, women were to stay at home, run errands, and give birth. In their society, men didn’t do the women’s roles and women didn’t do the men’s role. Also, marriages stayed within social classes. As seen in Modern-day Vikings: A Practical Guide to Interacting with the Swedes, Modern Sweden keeps its Viking heritage alive by maintaining the same sense of solidarity within their community that the Vikings created. This started when the Swedes revolted against their Danish king, Christian II. After the king’s brutal rebuttal to the beginning of an uprising resulted in over eighty opposing noblemen murdered at a feast known as the “Stockholm Bloodbath,” the people of Sweden agreed to join together to help future king Gustav Vasa bring the Danish king down. This unity between the Swedes became a crucial foundation of Sweden that was later seen with the rise of unions in modern Sweden. With a huge increase in demand for factory workers during the industrial revolution came the demand for better working conditions which led to a unified working class banding together to push forward reforms to end the inequality between employer and employee.…
