Composition II: Composition Analysis

In Composition II it was both difficult to pick a topic and to continue to only write about that topic. I new that the topic I picked would be the only thing that I would be able to talk about, so I gave the topic a lot of consideration. I took into consideration how much research I would be able to find on it and if it was relevant to today’s issues. I also thought about if there were counter arguments, because I knew that I would have to come up with different arguments other than my main argument to make sure I was not bias. I was considering many different topics, but I finally chose Performing Arts Programs. I did this because I went to a Performing Arts middle school, and I realized all the benefits and skills I gained from experiencing the arts for five years. I noticed that most schools were cutting art programs and I thought that it was a topic that needed to be talked about since they are so beneficial. Also, I wanted to argue something I knew some information about from personal experience, but did not know a lot of the actual science, math, and logic behind all the benefits. I tried to make my argument more appealing and convincing to by audience by using ethos, logos, and pathos equally and not just rely on one too heavily. I tried to show in a emotional, then logical, than follow it up with personal experience to make my reader feel every emotion and different feelings during my essay. My papers included ethos, pathos, logos, correct grammar, spelling, structure, and MLA format. Although, I can still work to improve some of these skill my paper did show that I understood each one and how to use them. They helped to make my paper both flow better, and helped improve my ethos since I showed I knew how to write a
