Composing Class Reflection

Composing is something that comes simple for me, yet I feel that my genuine shortcoming originates from not having any desire to peruse. Although, for the few books that I’ve read in my life, I did enjoy the reading in most cases after I got started. I take it that some people love to read, so they assume that their students or their peers feel the same way, but nothing could be farther from the truth when it comes to me reading stories.

My struggle for this class will be reading all of the short stories. When I read the story, I can without much of a stretch put the stories into composing, and give my sentiments about the writer and what I trust he was feeling when he composed the story, or the message that he was attempting to pass on. My penmanship is exceptionally poor from a creative viewpoint, yet it is decipherable for individuals to peruse. I don 't think I 'll ever get a honor in composing beautification. My written work vocabulary is especially in light of the words I use in my regular life, I don 't utilize a considerable measure a prominent words, which in some school

Although, I found myself forgetting words and topics when I’m standing in front of the public audience. I must use notes to keep me on track when I’m speaking in public. I also found out that I was very nervous when it came to speaking in public. These are some of the fears that I have moderately overcome; these fears are not completely gone. My challenge when it comes to public speaking is to convey all the things that I’m thinking, so often, when I do the public speaking, many of the words I wanted to say I’d never say them, but when I’m driving home I think about all the things that I should have said. This has been one of my primary setbacks in public speaking, so what I try to do is speak in front of my friends and family, so that I might go back and brainstorm for things that I might add to my subject

It’s interesting, really, to see some of my old papers from middle and high school. I look back and laugh at the time, maybe around the third grade, when my classmates and I would groan and complain about having to write an ENTIRE PARAGRAPH. Now, after years of writing significantly longer academic papers that stretch far beyond a simple paragraph, my style and the depth of my topics have evolved based on what I’ve read. The most important pastime for anyone who wishes to write, unsurprisingly, is to read a wide variety of material, starting at a young age. Studies have shown that children who read more than their peers exhibit a larger vocabulary as well as more complex writing styles.…

Just like talking yourself up, you have to remember what you have accomplished. I am taking public speaking at Edgecombe Community College and if you do not know already, the class is based around giving speeches and learning to better project your ideas to a public audience. Whenever I am about to give a speech, I go back to the night of the Distinguished Young Women Program. I think about how well I did and how I felt when I won that award. Thinking of this helps me to calm down and refocus on the speech at hand.…

For my portfolio, I compiled my best writing pieces from this class into one folder. I chose which works were the best not based on grade alone, but on how they represent my writing style and how it has evolved and progressed throughout the course of this semester. I chose one timed, 500 word, in-class essay, my best personal essay, my best out-of-class essay with MLA documentation, and my best paper with an annotated bibliography. In this short essay I will explain why each of these represent me as a writer and show growth in my writing experience.…

My Path to Literacy For a very long time writing and reading was a huge struggle for me. I was one of those students who was very intelligent, but disliked reading tremendously and was often told, “You write the way you talk”. The older I grew the more I realized that my struggles with writing was due to my lack of reading. I was aware of my issues but because it became a part of my writing habits it was hard to adapt to anything different. I wanted to be like everyone else and be a good authentic and productive writer but it seemed almost impossible.…

The lessons the workshop taught the children that went through it was invaluable. We hope that we as adults show our children learn from us the mistakes of the past and treat people equally. A lot of times unfortunately people have stigmata’s either put on them by society because of how they look or they put them on themselves and people treat them differently. The lessons that this workshop teaches are lessons that everyone should have. You can spend our entire life trying to instill the values in your children that this class does in two days, and I want my children to be kind to people as we all do; I do not want them to ALIENATE someone because they are not the same as them, different ETHNITICIY or part of a MINORITY GROUP.…

Given free time, I have always picked up a book for entertainment, never have I picked up a pen. As long as I can remember, writing was a chore: another task to check off my list, some homework to complete before I can return to my favorite book. My ambivalent attitude may seem to belie my love for the written word, but in truth it originates from reading. As I attempted to replicate the serpentine sentences of my favorite books, my quest for knowledge inhibited my own voice, leaving me trapped within a scrupulous need to obey guidelines that I saw as rules. Despite recent attempts to escape these inhibitions, I have not yet found a love for writing to match my attitude towards reading.…

My approach to reading has changed over the semester. Before this class, I would just read without taking notes. In reading, I would just read instead of looking up the difficult word or using context clues to figure out what the word means. Now during my reading I annotate and look up unknown vocabulary words. When I look up the difficult word, I would find the closest appropriate definition.…

I just wanted to go over what happened in training, inform you of the most helpful parts of training, and items I wish we had covered during training that I noticed once I went out on the calling floor and was working with my mentor to get me ready to succeed at this company. Recently when I started working for Nelnet, the national education loan network, that services many of the current student loans that have been taken out by students and parents I learned a lot about loans that I didn’t think was possible.…
