One component of natural selection is the fitness level of each individual in a population. If an individual has low fitness, then natural selection will act on that individual, killing it, and making it so it doesn’t produce any offspring. Another component are selective pressures, because these pressures play a role in the fitness of individuals, depending on their traits and the selective pressures around them. Sexual selection is also another component of natural selection, because if an individual has an unfavorable trait, no other individual will mate with it, so that individual’s traits won’t be passed on, and natural selection acts upon that individual and its traits.
