U.S. pharmaceutical companies employ high standards of safety, quality, and value in providing and promoting efficient medications to the healthcare consumer (Francer et al. 2014). As a trusted partner in health care, the pharmaceutical industry must comply with legal requirements and industry codes of practice, promoting health and wellness of the healthcare consumers. As members of the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA), our company realizes the importance of marketing medicines, legally and ethically, in order to provide patients with practical knowledge and accessibility to new, beneficial drugs. Suggestions, presented by the junior members of the marketing team, include the development of healthcare providers as speakers, advertising aides, and the evolution of a bonus system for territorial representatives with increased sales. As the manager of this healthcare marketing division, I will address the ideas presented by the junior members. First, developing speakers for the new drug is essential to providing a valuable service to this pharmaceutical company. The Federal Drug Administration holds our company accountable for the drug presentations and education of speakers therefore as junior members of this marketing team you need to understand the legal and ethical responsibility with which we are charged. Primarily, we commit to evaluate and choose speakers centered in medical knowledge, experience, and expertise that can perform a consulting role. However, the training venue must be within ethical reason and may not be a resort location with entertainment, violating the PhRMA Code, the interaction with healthcare professionals. Secondly, as a company, we must choose the appropriate number of individuals to train as speakers. Another ethical violation is training an excess number of speakers, knowingly that the numbered trained will not be necessary. Lastly, in developing speakers, our company may provide a reasonable compensation based on market value to the speaker individually, however no compensation made be offered to any office staff or spouses.
