Stem Cell Research
Stem cells come from embryos, fetuses, or adults that retain the capacity to develop into specialized cells and regenerate themselves; Scientists could manipulate and study stem cells in hope of using them to cure diseases. There are great possibilities in the stem cell research because they have the potential in the development of therapies and replacing defective or damaged cells. Resulting from a variety of disorders and injuries. Such as Parkinson disease, Heart disease and Diabetes. Stem cells could very important for medical research. For example it may be possible to generate a heathy heart from stem cells in the laboratory, then transplant the fully functioning and compatible heart to the patient. The possibilities are endless but to get the kind of stem cells needed they have to use a fetus that is aborted, and cells from the fetus are used to establish fetal cells. This mean the cells of the fetus are undeveloped and can form into any persons specific trait of cells. Cloned genes make many useful pharmaceuticals such as human insulin, growth hormone, clotting factors, fertility drugs, and vaccines.
In 1960s, researchers first discovered that bone marrow is soft, gelatinous tissue that fills the medullary cavities - the centers of bones contains at least two types of stem cells. One type named "hematopoietic" stem cell found to form all kinds of blood cells. The second type of stem cell was called "stromal cells" cartilage, and connective tissue cells. Which mean are nerves in all around are body, those cells are the foundation of stem cell research without them we could not have discovered the possibilities of their properties or great treatment and cures we can use with stem

Stem cell research hold future promises that someday we will have cure for diseases that degenerate what is considered a healthy quality of life. Controversy will still arise until other approaches are proven to be as effective as obtaining the cells from an embryo. As to my opinion of stem cell research, I believe that it is an opportunity to be able to find cures for so many diseases with just one cell. I believe it should be researched as much as possible to one day achieve that goal. It would be wonderful to find a cure for cancer, Autism, Parkinson’s disease, etc.…

Since stem cells can produce new tissues they could help in treating terminal illnesses such as cancer. A new tissue could be grown to replace the cancerous tissue. Adult stem cells and umbilical cord stem cells deal with this problem because adult stem cells are found in adult organs and tissue mostly bone marrow and umbilical cord stem cells are stem cells collected from the umbilical cord of a baby after delivery. Stem cell research can cure diseases that were once incurable can be done using stem cells. Its safer to use organs grown using stem cells during organ transplants because there are no risks of the body rejecting it. Blastocyst stem cells are undifferentiated cells from the inner cell mass of the 5-9 day blastocyst and fatal stem cells are collected from fetuses at less than 20 weeks of gestation. Pros of the umbilical cord stem cells are that they are easily collected, high flexibility of organ and tissue production and its found in large amounts. Adult stem cells are cells that come from a human body that is already alive and donates tissue. They are considered more ethical than embryonic stem cells. With stem cells, there are no risk of the body rejecting organs because it is made of the person’s own cells and it only takes 5-7 weeks to grow simple organs. Organs that are grown from a cell sample can be given to people in need of organ…

Stem cells have been around as early as 1868, but stem cell are often related to “Frankenstein” by Mary Shelley and the book was published in 1818, 50-years before stem cells were thought of. In Frankenstein, Victor, a scientist, got body parts that he severed from grave digging in order to create the creature. When Victor was done shaping the creature he was “playing god” because he brought something to life without reproduction. Stem cells are also referred to “playing god”, or “cheating at life”. Stem Cells should be used to help repair cells, as well as treat, and possibly cure the diseases that take the lives of others. Stem Cells should be continued research and be an advanced study that could lead to cures of diseases and repair organs…

Stem cells have the capacity to create other cells in the body, such as brain, muscle, tissue and blood cells. This is why it is considered a revolutionary option to repair or replace damaged cells or tissues, as in the case of cancer. Stem cells are present in all of our bodies and for the entirety of our existence. But its potency is highest in a fetus than in an adult body, resulting in fetal stem cell research.…

“Stem cell research can revolutionize medicine, more than anything since antibiotics.” This statement was said by former president of the United States of America, Ronald Reagan. Mr. Reagan in this statement was saying that stem cells are the future of medicine and can change how the medical field may approach a problem. Stem cells are cells that have the potential to develop into different kinds of cells. Stem cells have an internal repair system. They can also replenish other cells. There are generally two kinds of stem cells that scientists work with: embryonic stem cells and somatic or adult stem cells. Most of the research come from lab work, where scientists keep stem cells in cultures, where they can divide. Stem cells should be continued…

Stems cells have the potential to be used to cure many diseases. There are also other uses for stem cells like organ repairs. Even though they would be so beneficial, there is an ethical debate. I believe that it is ethical and that it is something that should be done.…

Stem cells have the ability to self renew, therefore they will not die off as soon as they are injected into the receiver (Gibbs). The research for stem cells is not easy. The process is complex and is very expensive. There are scientists all over the world studying and researching stem cells, this makes it harder to collect all of the outcomes (Walsh). There are two main types of stem cells scientists are researching: embryonic and adult stem cells. Embryonic cells come from taking tissue from an aborted embryo to get the proper materials needed for the study (Stem Cells: Pros and Cons). Adult cells come from placentas and umbilical cord blood. The adult cells were originally not expected to be very valuable. After testing the adult cells out, the results proved the scientists original thoughts wrong. Adult…

So what are stem cells and why are they important, you might ask? Well, stem cells have the remarkable potential to develop into many different cell types during the early stages of growth. They also act as a repair system for damaged cells in areas like your gut and bone marrow. When stem cells divide they have the ability to remain stem cells or change into cells of organs that have been damaged to replace the damaged parts. Until recently scientists have used two different kinds of stem cells, embryonic stem cells and somatic or adult stem cells. “Given their unique regenerative abilities, stem cells offer new hopes for treating diseases such as diabetes, and heart disease. However, much work…

There are two different types of stem cells, embryonic stem cells and adult stem cells. Although embryonic stem cells are the ones most commonly heard about, both have possible uses in medical research. Research into stem cells began with mice in the early 1980’s and branched out to include research involving in vitro fertilization. (Health, 2016) Stem cell research has continued to grow, to include the use of stem cells…

Scientists consider embryonic stem cells to be the most valuable form of stem cells as they have the potential to become any type of cell in the body. This is one of the main advantages of using and researching embryonic stem cells. New organs or tissues such as muscle, bone and blood could be grown to help someone and a variety of different things could be researched. some of these may be :- to increase knowledge about the causes of miscarriages -to develop methods for detecting the presence of gene or chromosome abnormalities - and to increase knowledge about serious diseases.…

Science and medicine go hand in hand, especially as it works with genes and DNA. Research and study of genetics has uncovered some underlying disorders that can now be treated because of science. Stem cells have been known to have multiple benefits when it comes to medicine. This research has not only generated treatments for health issues such as medicines, but also allows reconstruction of cells or tissues that need repair. The NIH Stem Cell Information Center stated, “Stem cells, directed to differentiate into specific cell types, offer the possibility of a renewable source of replacement cells and tissues to treat diseases including macular degeneration, spinal cord injury, stroke, burns, heart disease, diabetes, osteoarthritis, and rheumatoid arthritis.” This quote gives insight on the direct uses for stem cells and the way that they are becoming a useful device in medicine. Stem cell research is also known to be of use in cancer research and treatments. This is a positive effect of stem cell research which people tend to…
