Complete Assessment of Barbara Ehrenreich Journey Ingrid McVay University of South Alabama In Barbara Ehrenreich "Evaluation", she talks about her achievement and she did exceptionally well on her journey. Throughout her journey, she learned many new valuable lessons and wrote that it was not easy, and each job came with new challenges. She established that living on minimum wage and in poverty is difficult and living impoverished lifestyle is challenging for all people. In this chapter, "Evaluation", Ehrenreich, compared many aspects of Living an impoverished lifestyle, including inequalities, living on minimum wage, and overcoming her hardships (Ehrenreich, 2001).

Some people who lived on minimum wage could not afford a car or pay for transportation. They had to rely on family and friends for transportation. The positive side of minimum wage was that it had increased over the years, but is still not enough to survive. Therefore, it is imperative for people in poverty to work 2 jobs and have no time to relax and no time to enjoy life. Ehrenreich wrote about people being obedient and controlled by rules and policies that each employer placed on the worker. She had experienced this while working at each job, for example, to be silent, not to speak, and do not complain. It is better not to complain to the upper manager, but if the person tried to protest or join an organization, work life became harder at work and with coworkers. She pointed out that most working people were living under authoritarianism. Some people hold a misconception that persons living in poverty are lazy, but this is far from the truth.
