Competitive Cheerleading Persuasive Speech

Spending months upon months, week after week, days, hours and seconds, all for one little sport. The sport that fills my heart and love so deeply, cheerleading. Not the school sideline girls that yell and kick, but competitive cheer. In a cheer routine, a team must be able to continuously flip across the floor, jump as fast as rabbits, launch people into the air while still managing to keep them safe, and dance and be sassier than a seven-year-old pageant girl - all of it jam packed into 2 minutes and 30 seconds. It looks like a piece of cake reading it right now and watching it too, but it isn’t. Many people argue about whether cheer is or isn't a sport, but that doesn't matter to me. All that matters is having the opportunity to have cheer in my life. In my life, competitive cheerleading is the biggest impact on my identity - now and forever. My teammates are lifelong friends, that I can always go to for anything. We create entertainingly odd handshakes; that become superstitious to us. While at cheer, when we go “full out” (a cheer term for executing our whole routine), I have to be very, very confident in my teammates and myself. Doing and telling myself this, motivates me to get through anything. This helps me in the real world, especially at school; when taking quizzes or tests I must quickly remind myself to be confident. Another big lesson I carry with me in my everyday life is to never give up. Sometimes at cheer practices, we have rough and hard times, but it has to finish one way or another. Telling myself and teammates to not give up, pushes us to our full potential. Again while comparing this lesson to my outside life, I do this with people. I often find myself giving up on people, when I do, I have to refocus on the situation and not give up. Putting my full potential to keep those relationships in
