Kinicki and Williams (2013) tells us that the chief executive of J.C.Penney Co., Ron Johnson, first directed his attention to his emails of the store that advertised sales. He reviewed all of the past sales in the last year and noticed when exactly the customers purchased from the store. I was attracted to a Lowes marketing campaign delivered through their website, a form of digital media marketing. I am a veteran as was Lowe’s founder, Carl Buchan, who founded Lowes in 1946 when he “wanted to make home building and home improvement affordable for returning GIs and their families,” (Lowes Corporate, 2017) Recently, Lowes expanded “its military discount program by offering 10 percent off personal purchases every day to current and honorably discharged members of the U.S. Armed Forces.” (Lowes Corporate, 2017) Lowes is exercising customer relationship management by segmenting their market and targeting the veteran segment with their military veteran discount program.…

Since I’ve been shopping for furniture in the past few weeks, I decided to select for this project two of the many stores I have visited so far, Lowe’s and Big Lots. To me, it seems like fan acquisition is not the first priority for Lowe’s. To find the links to social networking sites in the Lowe’s website, you have to scroll down all the way. In the section “Get Connected” you will find the icons to Lowe’s Tumblr, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube, and Instagram sites. On the other hand, as soon as you enter the Big Lots website, a pop-up window displays asking you to enter your e-mail address to win $5 dollars off on your $15 dollars purchase.…

Although Home Depot had a stronger fiscal year, Lowe’s is the closest competitor in the home improvement industry. In terms of leveraging paid, earned and owned media I will rank each separately on a 1-10 scale, 1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest. For paid media, I would rank Home Depot a 6 out of 10 and competitor Lowe’s an 8. For earned media, I would rank Home Depot a 7 out of 10 and Lowe’s an 8.…
