In the novel A Christmas Carol, there are a lot of themes in the novel. The theme I choose is compassion and forgiveness. In the beginning of the novel, Scrooge's old friend, Marley, dies. After Marley died, he died with a purpose, to help his old friend become a better person. Marley's ghost then tells Scrooge that he will be visited by 3 ghosts. When Scrooge got visited by the first ghost, he was scared, but he took the advice. Now, when the second ghost visited him, that didn’t really phase him since it was showing him his present. Finally, when the third ghost came, he showed Scrooge his grave. At that moment, Scrooge finally realized if he didn’t change soon, that would be his fate. Scrooge apologized to the host and asked for forgiveness
