Within Shepard’s book she talks about her personal experience of trying to find how she fits into all of the religions that make up her blend family. This memoir Shepard at a young age finds out about all of the different religions that make up her family. Her mother originally practiced Judaism but converted to Muslim for marriage. Her mother is muslim and her father is jewish. Shepard struggles to find out about all the religions to decided which one she wants to identify with or how to practice all of these religions. Both of these women within the memoirs is trying to find their place within religion. Joanna’s experience relates to Shepard's experience because they both have blended families at some point within their lives and are struggling to maintain their religion or all their religions. This article talks about fashion designers making a market for women who veil. The companies have a fashion show that only certain women are allowed within because they only want to appeal to Muslim women.
