“It isn't fair, it isn't right Mrs. Hutchinson screamed and then they were upon her”(34). Mrs. Hutchinson went from having a life to having no life in less than one minute. She was hit by stones until she died. Like in”A Visit To Grandmother’s”, these to character’s life changed unexpectedly. Never did they think there life was going to change this much.

In the last story, “Without Title”, a dad changes up his tradition but it ends up changing the whole family's life. “Without a vision he had migrated to the city and went working in the packing house” (39). Before this, the dad used to hunt buffalo to feed his family. It was the man’s tradition. His Wife wants him to get a real job so he does. As well as the other stories, their life also changes because the guy got a new job and they had to move into a different home.

Something similar to this happened to me and my family. We didn't know our life was going to change. And like the characters in these stories, our life changed completely. It all started when my dad lost his job. He thought that was the only job he knew how to do. MY uncle had a job for him but that would require us to move here in Anaheim. Our life changed completely just the characters on the stories. We made new friends, my dad made more money for him and his family, and we live happily. That is why i say take chances, risk everything to make your life

Evicted, a New York Times Bestseller book written by Matthew Desmond, captured many faces of a culturally diverse population. Many parallel stories were narrated, yet each was unique and contained tremendous consequences as well as the depth of its kind. The beauty in Desmond’s writing was signified by his audacious remark, with words and sentences that provoked one’s deepest feelings. These allowed the author to develop a stronger connection with the readers as they progressed and psychologically experienced the multistage of sensations: from being awfully rejected to being openly loved, or from being wrongfully evicted to being warmly welcomed into a house. Multiple characters with distinct and rich background stories created a colorful book…

The short stories “The Lottery” and “The Destructors” are made up of great details that help to form the scenes in the reader’s mind. One story creating profound images of a beautiful, small town concealed in flowers and exhausted tradition; while the other story constructs a reflection of a boyhood gang’s decaying car-park hang-out surrounded by debris and dilapidated buildings. Even though the short stories “The Lottery” and “The Destructors” leave the reader wanting a better understanding of the purpose of the character’s actions, both stories do provide enough foreshadowing for the reader to understand what the conclusions of the stories could be. Foreshadowing plays a major part in both stories, but more so in “The Lottery”.…

A Good Man is Hard to Find” was in some way frightening and shocking to me, especially because it starts out peacefully and ends with a terrible ending: the death of the grandmother, Baily, his wife, and his three children. I thought that in the sequence of the story, “A Good Man is Hard to Find” resembles “The Lottery,” in which the story starts with a good day and ends with the scene where a woman who is chosen from the town lottery is stoned to death. They are also very similar in the way that both authors use foreshadowing to hint at the unexpected, terrible ending. From the part where the grandmother begs for mercy to The Misfit saying that she knows that he is an internally kind person and that believing in God will help him be more righteous,…

The Tradition of Pain The “The Lottery” (1948) by Shirley Jackson and “The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas” (1973) by Ursula Le Guin share a setting that is both similar and different from one another. In both stories, the writers use social constructs and deep ritualistic traditions to pave a setting for both stories.
