Superheroes are often identified with a specific trait that any other superhero wouldn’t have. For example the “I” on the incredibles suits represent their abilities of speed, flexibility, etc. This is the same in The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne, after being convicted and charged with Adultery the court give her the letter “A” to place on her bosom and keep it there. Although there are many things in The Scarlet Letter that have different meanings two groups of the most important dualities are weeds and flowers, and the two different meanings of the letter “A” on Hester’s bosom. it first starts out to represent her crime and sin, Adultery and its purpose is so everyone knows about the crime and that she is also constantly reminded of what she has done. This isn’t a very effective form of punishment because it’s just public humiliation and it doesn’t do much other than people look at her differently and don’t give her as much respect anymore. After some time passes with the letter on her bosom she regains people’s trust and people start to view her differently, now the letter “A” on her bosom no longer stands for Adultery, now it stands for being Able. “ The letter was a symbol of her calling. Such helpfulness was found in her,- so much power to do, and power to sympathize,-that many people refused to interpret the scarlet A by its original signification. They said it meant Able; so strong was Hester Prynne, with a woman 's strength.” Since Hester started sewing more clothes for the poor, people look at her as if she is changing into a good person. What is going on is that she is just trying to move on and going back to her life before, and even though she is doing the same things she was doing in the beginning, people have forgotten about all that and focused on what she did wrong, and now that she is moving back and doing the things she did at first, people look at her almost as a rising angle.
