These two books while having similar goals go about achieving them completely differently by using the different genres of fiction and nonfiction.
Fiction books are able to tell stories based ether in reality or in a completely made up world. They are able to change and adapt to the author’s need and, if well written, be used to make any point about society. Typically, fiction is also more enjoyable to read and easier to absorb the message. Rather than feeling lectured to, the reader can live through the character and experience what they go through in the moment. He also focuses on a few central subject matters such as irony and repaying one’s debts instead of a global perspective of how to be a better human. The Kite Runner is also significantly more interesting than The Road to Character as it is able to take liberties with what would be realistic and what is more fictitious. The Road to Character also is very strait forward in its attempt to lecture the reader and tell them how they should behave while The Kite Runner uses imperfect characters with whom the reader can relate to and then using the characters’ mistakes to teach the readers about themselves and their own
