The two writers disagree where in Tartuffe the male’s figures seem to take the lead and in The Vindication of the Rights of Women Wollstonecraft’s think women are just as capable to take action but the themes help carry the agreements and disagreements that the authors may have. The themes let the author express themselves through their stories and that’s where you really see the differentiation between the two.
“[Women] were made to be loved, and must not aim at respect, lest they should be hunted out of society as masculine” (Wollstonecraft). In The Vindication of the Rights of Women there is a lack of respect for women because they are to only love well, cook, clean and take care of the household and children. Wollstonecraft brought other authors into her story that disagreed with her to show different viewpoints but to validate where she is coming from. She believed that women are more than what people saw them as. She had different themes throughout the text such as religion, justice, appearance, sex, and femininity/masculinity. Starting with religion, Wollstonecraft believed god was on her side and that he would have liked to see a change
