"The Tragedy of Julius Caesar" is one of many plays written by William Shakespeare, this tragedy is well-known for its nonfictional incorporation relating to, or rather based off of, true events from Roman history. After the Civil war against Pompeii, Julius Caesar returns home and is labeled a hero, causing much excitement and some jealousy to rise within those closest to Caesar; his murder then was planned and executed, forcing Antony to remind the people of Rome who Caesar really was and of everything he did for his country, thus contradicting Brutus' failed attempt to justify his actions in "his" people's eyes. Using rhetoric to appeal to, relate to, and question the people of Rome and to add to not only his own credibility, but to that of the once mighty Caesar's as well, Antony was able to have a better connection with his audience helping him to persuade them to lean in his favor.…

Notwithstanding the greatness of his loyalty, Mark Antony displays many other indications of being a hero, an example of such being his favor in the eyes of the Roman people. The people of Rome chose to side with Antony over Brutus, when each character gave their funeral speeches after the death of Caesar. Brutus gave to the people his reasoning for killing Caesar, yet Antony only praised his deceased friend and never once tried to directly disprove the conspirator’s word. As Antony’s speech goes on his listeners fondness for him noticeably grows, the plebeians words show this well. Cleopatra was the last Ptolemy of Egypt: a masterpiece in Ancient history famed with both vices and great virtues. Schiff’s take on Cleopatra, tentatively entitled Cleopatra: A Life, takes an in-depth look at the challenges that Cleopatra faced in her pursuit of socio-political power, which largely included internal and external aggressors, and examined…
