Comparison Of Pi Movie Vs Book

Movie vs. Book The story in both the movie and the book is about an Indian boy whose father was a zookeeper and a businessman. Pi’s character is curious and he is thirsty to learn about different religions but after his parents decide to leave India and move to Canada, he end up in a ship wreck. After the ship wreck he has to try to survive being alone in the ocean with Richard Parker (Bengal tiger). Something that is really interesting in both stories is that the character of pi in each one of the masterpieces is different from one another. In the movie we have the change of colors, looking up and looking down shots which is related to each specific part of the movie and the way the story is told is much different than how the story in the book is told. For example, the part that Pi went to the Richard Parker’s cage which was in the movie he was curious to try to give food to the tiger and then that was when Pi’s father gave him and his brother about tigers being dangerous, this scene was different in the book because Pi’s father took both Ravi and Pi to the zoo to teach them about animals being dangerous and the tiger wasn’t Richard Parker it was Mahisha another tiger. Some of the readers of this book that have watched this movie they believe that Ang Lee (director of Life of Pi) wanted the watchers of this movie to understand that Pi’s father wanted to scare Pi, so he won’t go near the tiger but Ang Lee changed Pi’s character to more of a careless boy which does not care about his own health. The fans of this book and the movie also think that Pi never got introduced to Islam which was a part of his character to learn about the religions around him, in the movie he suddenly had a prayer
