I had been pondering this question for a while “how will my parents react when I tell them that I have decided to join the LDS church? The worst part of it all is that I didn’t ask permission to start speaking with the missionaries in the first place.” I was literally weighed down by fear as I crossed the threshold of my parent’s front door that evening. “I made this decision and I am willing to deal with the consequences,” I thought to myself. Somehow the brightly colored walls of the living room seemed dull.…
A Glance at Three Religions Judaism, Santeria, and Scientology are three religions that originated in different parts of the world, at different times, and with a variety of similarities and differences. These religions all vary in their origins and beliefs. Judaism is one of the oldest religions, founded over 3,500 years ago in the Middle East. Santeria originated in Cuba out of slave trade, and Scientology is the most modern religion, founded in 1954 by a man named Ronald Hubbard in the United States. These three religions are incorporated into the everyday lives of people and each have an influence over each other.…
In my research, I was directed to a blog and article about this teacher in Florida and her Jehovah's Witness student. The incident took place on September 11, 2013, and it was over the Pledge of Allegiance. A fourth-grade Jehovah's Witness boy was standing for the pledge, but his hand was not on his heart. In front of the class, his teacher, Anne Daigle-McDonald, come up to the boy, and forcefully put his on his heart. Being a teacher, Daigle-McDonald was using the boy "disobedience" as a lesson.…
This paper allowed me to learn a great deal about them, while at the same time strengthening my faith. A few of the errors in the Mormonism doctrine are: Scripture, Church restoration, and salvation by works. The differences and defense of Scripture exposed the fallacies of the Mormon books. The differences explored in the Church restoration argument exposed the disobedience to Jesus’ words that Mormons have participated in. Finally, we see that the salvation preached in Mormonism is not a salvation that can stand firm.…
In today's society there are hundreds of christian denominations around the world and without Brigham Young the book of mormon would have just been classified as fantasy instead of non-fiction. In the United States alone there are over six million Mormons. Brigham has been called the modern day moses for bringing the teachings of Joseph Smith to the people after Smith's death in 1844. The Mormon church would not be anywhere close to where it is today if it weren't for Young. Not much of Young's early life is known but it is known that he was born June 1, 1801 in Whitingham, Virginia to a farming family and worked as a traveling blacksmith/ carpenter and was married to his first wife in 1824 to Miriam Angeline Works.…
Christianity and Mormonism share several similarities but there are also many differences that separate the two religions. The origins of the religion, morality, worldview, view on afterlife, and purpose of the religion are things that are important to consider when comparing the two. Christians believe that mankind was created by the one and only sovereign God. The Christian worldview maintains the idea that God created the world and everything in it over the course of six days. On that sixth day God created Adam and then Eve using one of Adam’s ribs.…
Jehovah’s Witnesses are kind, generous, loving, and friendly people who can help you with your problems. You can have a Bible study with a Jehovah’s Witness and talk to them about what you are having problems…
From the concepts that founded the Latter Day Saints, all the way to the current church of Mormonism, I believe that it has changed and evolved into a true cult. With the addition of new leaders, and ideas twisting over time it seems like some of their beliefs have little to no base. Their beliefs are certainly not Biblical, even though they claim to be Christian. Mormonism is a widespread modern day cult, although most people have no idea what really goes on in…
Judaism vs. Hinduism Judaism and Hinduism are much more similar up close than they appear at a distance. Now after some looking into them both I realize just how alike they really are. After you have read about the comparison between them, you will realize how much these two really have in common.…

Christianity vs. Islam The religions Christianity and Islam both share many differences. With both of these religions emerging from the Middle East, they have created a great impact on this world. Like most religions, they both claim to be the one true way to God. Their differences include their view on Jesus, how the religion had originated, and also their practices.…
I believe that the three religions should be grouped together as each seems to branch off from the previous religion. Judaism is the oldest of the three and provides a good foundation for the other two. Christianity came second as a branch of Judaism. There are talks of Jesus and Abraham in the Islam religion showing that it is also a branch off of Judaism, however it isn’t tied into Christianity as much. Each of the three religions are monotheistic, they each worship a single god, the same god so it seems.…
Christianity and Judaism are two of the most influential religions in history. While Judaism isn 't as large as Christianity, its impact is still just as prevalent. Christianity emerged from Judaism, forming a new religion. Many people testify that Judaism and Christianity are part of the same dialog and that the beliefs of the two religions are closely similar. Some disagree and examine how the two religions differ through world-views.…
The world three important religions; Islam, Christianity and Judaism are often debated for their competing and differentiated doctrines and beliefs system. However, this essay argues that there are more similarities between these religions than differences. In order to understand the similarities and differences between these religions, it is important to know about their basic belief system. Islam is a religion, which emerged in the 7th century and the followers of Islam are known as Muslims. Muslims follow the teachings of Quran and Sunnah (way of life) of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).…
Hinduism and Judaism are two of the oldest existing religions in the world. Judaism is one of the first religions ever created and a monotheistic one. Judaism states that they must ultimately believe in the reality of God who made an agreement between Him and the Jews. Hindus believe in several Gods and Goddesses but they are all reflections of one God, Brahman, or the Universal spirit. The Hindu God presents himself in three forms, Brahma who created the world for them, Vishnu who sustains it, and Shiva who destroys it and recreates the world.…
