WSP was found in November 1st in 1961, was responding to the United States wanting to have nuclear testing because the Soviet Union was doing it. WSP was mostly middle-class white women who were housewives, and mothers. The slogan that WSP used the day of the nuclear testing protest was, “End the Arms Race-Not the Human Race.” Which committee women did what they could do to protest; some marched, others lobbied offices, and some groups took ads in their local newspaper. To be able to do this it was a two-step process; WSP had to realize their political influence before recognizing the political influence of women everywhere. Vietnam War was a big part of this phase, the women could raise a unified voice against the war. On January 15, 1962 was another strike and it was international strike, this one was organized like the strike before in November; just bigger, covered more area. There were peace marches, rallies, visitations to public offices, and press conferences, national women and foreign women were involved in this
