Catholics have their own views on death and the afterlife. They believe that death is the gateway to the afterlife in which you are reconnected with the Holy Father. All Catholics await the second resurrection of Jesus Christ who will judge us all and send our souls to either Heaven, Purgatory or Hell. For instance, Catholics have the funeral vigil which usually takes place the day before the funeral where the family gathers around the body and prays in reflection of the dead life. Muslims also do this practice as they all gather around the sick before they pass and pray that they will be placed in the right hand of Allah. As catholic pray during funeral mass, Muslims also pray outside the mosque or in the mosque's courtyard. Similarly, at funerals Catholics have prayers they like to recite such as the Our Father and Muslims have their phrases and verses from the Qur'an that they like to recite. Through these examples we can see how these two faiths a similar.
There is also many differences between the two funerals.
