Wilson claims that the situation between Fortinbras and James I is the exactly parallel. Both of them are being elected Kings due to the fact that their predecessors did not choose an heir. After Claudius' death, Hamlet was the king but he died too and proclaimed Fortinbras as king. In the case of James I the ministers had already chose him as successor to the throne. However, there is a problem with these two new monarchs and this is that they have different laws that the countries which they rule now.
