Health Care Fields Comparison Two fields I am very interested in are chiropractic and dentistry. Chiropractors help patients by treating them using the neuromusculoskeletal system. This means that they can treat patients by using their bones, muscles, nerves, tendons, and even ligaments. Chiropractors use manipulation of these to help treat their patients pain. The main goal of goal of chiropractors is to reduce pain and to lower the resistance of disease by keeping the patients body in alignment. Chiropractors have many duties such as identifying health problems, conducting test on patients, performing examinations, and of course provide neuromusculoskeletal therapy. (doctorate of chiropractic). This means you must have 4 years completed at a chiropractic school. It is also highly recommended to have a bachelors degree because in most states to gain a license to practice one is required. To get accepted to one of these schools it is required to have between 30-60 credit hours of science courses. Closest schools located near Lincoln are in Kansas, Iowa, Missouri and Illinois. This is highly different from dentistry because there is a graduate program through UNL for dentistry. If I was to go into dentistry I would stay in Lincoln and pursue my graduate degree through UNL. If I was to pursue chiropractic I would most likely want to attend Palmer Chiropractic which is located in Iowa. Both of these careers interest me because they both involve helping patients health. Ever since I was a kid I wanted to help people become more healthy individuals. I was around hospitals very often as a child and this is when I found my passion for it. When my father was sick I looked up to the doctors that were helping him recover. Ever since then I have wanted to be that person that someone looks up to. Being a positive role model and helping people is one of my main goals in life and both of these careers could achieve it. I love talking to people and communicating which both of these fields would
