However researcher Christopher Putnam explains different stages of being a psychopath and sociopath. One of them is having the capacity of living a normal lifestyle without having any desire for criminal behavior. For example neuroscientist James Fallon discovered through his research on studying patients with Alzheimer’s, that his brain showed signs of having abnormal psychopathic genes. Fallon stated how his mother started noticing psychopathic traits during his youth. Even though Fallon grew up in a happy home he often seemed to act like a gang leader (Dhikuare). In other words, Fallon would manipulate and act aggressively violent towards other children. Some parents even forbidden their children to play with Fallon believing he would end up an unsuccessful civilian or incarcerated (Dhikuare). This proves that psychopaths and sociopaths can be portrayed as dangerous people but live normal lives without harming anyone. Some can lead into being well qualified soldiers in the military, benefiting the war. According to the article “Twilight of the Psychopaths” by Kevin Barrett 95 percent of soldiers with no psychopathic traits could be seen as in sense of hesitating to harm or kill civilians during the war (Barrett). In the military psychopaths use sophisticated techniques allowing them to brainwash soldiers into functional psychopaths. By doing so, the military is more likely to …show more content…
Others believe psychopathic traits can lead into consequences of and non- stop devoted disciplinary enforcement. An article in New York Times demonstrates a unit of soldiers with personality disorder manipulated his unit in committing a criminal offense towards an innocent Iraqi family. Commander Steven D. Green in charge of his unit attacked an Iraqi family in March raping and killing a young women after killing both her parents and sister in their home (Benedict). Those in favor believe if war crimes like the example above occur then how can psychopaths or sociopaths be trusted? Dr. Hare comments how the commander in charge of the unit manipulated the others to commit the war crime (Benedict). Dr. Hare also argues if a commander can manipulate his unit to commit a war crime, we are unaware of how powerful a psychopaths can be manipulation can be. “ I remember seeing the fear in people’s eyes, and knowing that I could operate with a clearer head because it was absent in me” said by Nolan (Anderson). The failure to perform any emotional connections with people make psychopaths and sociopaths difficult to learn the military 's belief on “leaving no men behind”
