In 1982, the Van Halen rock band decided to include a controversial clause in their contract rider; have a full bowl of M&Ms in the backstage, but with the restriction of not even a single brown M&M in it. This requirement was used by the band to ensure that the promoter had read throughout all the points in the contract, and if this particular request was not paid enough attention that might indicate that even other more important information was neglected. As it was explained by David Lee Roth in 2012, the famous clause was made up for security issues that would save the band from potential problems with the stage set up. The case described in the above-mentioned article is a resemblance of the One-Shot game because whenever the clause…

Certainly, people are influenced by music producers, media and sometimes even religious belief in the way they perceive heavy metal music. These factors do not always have real influence on popular culture and social change, but sometimes they only create divisions in social groups. This division is, first of all, caused by the concept of “the other”. Specific types of music are more likely to be addressed to specific social groups. As Asbjørn Dyrendal argues in the article “Devilish Consumption: Popular Culture in Satanic Socialization”, “Society and social identities are constructed through the continual activity of society's members in groups and as separate individuals acting with the internalized audience of ‘the Other(s)’ in mind” (Asbjørn 68).…

Does popular music containing alcohol and drug use change an adolescent’s perspective on drug and alcohol abuse and use? The effect of popular music amongst adolescents is a substantial problem that is often looked past frequently. Many adolescents do not even recognize the effects popular music is having on themselves, mainly because substance and alcohol abuse and use is remarkably glorified. The glorification of substance and alcohol abuse is often defined as making it seem as if the use of these substances are the “cool” thing to do, and giving off the impression that substance and alcohol use are not that bad and no long-term or short-term consequences will happen. Since adolescents are known to listen to popular music, they are the most…
