Comparison Of Andy Griffin Show

Decent Essays
I think the “Andy Griffin Show” was more entertaining than “The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street”. The reason I think this is because”The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street” took place in the dark and I do not like the dark. I like the “Andy Griffin Show” better is because it took place in the daylight hours and I like day. I also like the “Andy Griffin Show” because all you see is a stranger and in”The Monsters Are Due on maple Street” you see Aliens. I would much rather see a stranger in my town rather than Aliens in my town. They are both alike because they were both suspicious at some point in the videos and text. They are also alike because they are both happy at some point in the videos and text. The genre of “The Monsters are

Steel Magnolias is my favorite movie. This movie reflects the daily lives of six southern women with different personalities and careers. Being a southern girl I could see myself in one of the characters. M'Lynn, Truvy, Annelle, Claree, Shelby and my favorite Ouiser all had a unique personality but are alike in so many ways which is the love they have for their families, one another, and the support for each other during family crisis. They laughed together, cried together and even made jokes about one another but as friends they always made the best out of all obstacles that crossed them rather it was a happy occasion or tragic.…

“The Scar”, by Kildare Dobbs, is a moving, emotional account of the bombing of Hiroshima, Japan. The author creates interest as well as suspense by using two storylines. One follows the experiences of a 15 year old Japanese girl, Emiko. The other, in great contrast, follows the story of an American co-pilot, Captain Robert Lewis, who was aboard the Enola Gay, a US Air Force B-29, that carried the first operational atom bomb. Throughout the narrative, the author switches back and forth between these two accounts which creates situational irony as the reader experiences both sides of the story, however, the two characters remain unaware of each other.…

During the time of Jane Austen and Shakespeare, women were judged by the many different things that they did or didn’t do. One of the biggest things that came into play when determining the purity of a girl were her sexual relationships and if she was a promiscuous woman or not. In Much Ado about Nothing and Pride and Prejudice, we see that the promiscuity of male characters is treated differently and is seen as socially acceptable. Society has set and shaped standards causing women to have their own type of cultural rules to follow based off of their sexual impurity. When dealing with the same issue concerning men, it’s treated in a different way due to the fact that men had more power and received anything they would demand.…

In the readings assigned for this week Megan J. Lee and Leign Moscowitz’s expose of the Real Housewives of New York City in The “Rich Bitch” really stood out to me. The reading stood out to me because of the many conflicting attitudes and situations presented in the article. I personally have never watched the Real Housewives because I didn’t feel the need to watch wealthy grown women make a big deal out of the littlest things. It always seemed excessive and ridiculous to have these types of shows that were made to glaringly show off the completely random women’s wealth. However, this article shows that there is so much more to the show.…
