How has a failure, or apparent failure, set you up for later success? Do you have a “favorite failure” of yours? There has been many of times where I have messed up and things did not go my way. Failure can happen to anyone. As a child, I was never the most confident and loudest kid in school. Even if I knew the correct answer, I would sometimes hold myself back from saying it. During my last year in middle school, I signed up for the talent show only to back out, due to stage fright. I was embarrassed and seeing the audience made almost puke. As a result, in my first year of high school, I made myself apply for a public speech class to help build up my speaking skills. I was afraid each time the teacher asked me go up to the front. However, this choice paid off and it helped me be more confident. Speaking out loud was necessary in this class, which normalized this behavior. I started becoming more involved in the discussions of other classes without realizing it. Fortunately, I overcame my shyness even though I was petrified walking into that one class everyday but it benefited me in the long
