The novel ‘Of Mice and Men’ was written by John Steinbeck in the 1930, it tells a story of what life was like during the Great Depression. John Steinbeck came from Salinas, California and many of his characters in his books are migrant workers who travelled to California looking for work and a better life. He won the Nobel Prize for literature for his “realistic and imaginative writing”. On the other hand, Death of a Salesman was written by Arthur Miller in the 1949. Arthur Miller 's play Death of a Salesman addresses loss of identity and a man 's inability to accept change within himself and society, due to the fact, of the Wall Street Crash. When the Wall Street stock market crashed in 1929, the world economy was plunged into the great depression. …show more content…
George Milton is a small man, but he is very intelligent and a quick witted person. This is quoted when Steinbeck says "small and quick". This highlights that he is not big like Lennie, but is clever than him. Linda Loman is married to Willy Loman who is a mother of two sons called Biff Loman and Happy Loman. She plays a key role in Willy 's life because she knows that Willy is suicidal, irrational, and difficult to deal with; however, she goes along with Willy 's fantasies in order to protect him from committing suicide. Linda and Curley’s wife are both similar because they have no rights and are known as housewives. They are both not being treated equally. However, there are some differences in a way that Curley’s wife dream is for herself and Linda’s dream is for her children and her husband. This is when she says “it’s an accomplishment”.
