Technology is the staple of society as we know it. It generally makes our every day life easier, and more accessible than ever before. One of the most prominent and frequently used pieces of technology that society utilizes is the computer. The computer is utilized for a plethora of uses such as: emailing, creating graphs or spreadsheets, using social media, accessing bank accounts, and discovering new articles or pieces of information. So, with the computer being such an important utility in our everyday lives, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that most people take in many considerations when choosing a computer or laptop to purchase. A popular debate concerning computers is the argument over Mac and PC superiority. Both Mac and PC have their similarities and differences, but what makes each one dissimilar or equivalent from one another? To make the distinctions between the two, it is best to look at four major aspects of a computer: price, the operating system, security, and the desired usage for the computer. …show more content…
With that being said, the general prices for Mac and PC are notably different. PCs are generally much cheaper than Macs, with prices ranging from 100 dollars to 500 dollars cheaper than a comparable Mac (Mac* vs. PC Debate). According to the comparison website Diffen, “The main reason that PCs are generally cheaper is because they are manufactured by a large number of hardware manufacturers, resulting in increased competition and lower prices, as opposed to Mac which is only manufactured by Apple (Mac vs PC). Although that is not to say that there are not PCs that equate to the cost of a Mac; such as a Lenovo Idea Centre, priced at around 1,136
