In 2012, Gary Ross made a movie version of Suzanne Collins’s novel The Hunger Games. Both the book and movie are set in the nation of Panem and tell the story of a young heroine named Katniss. In both versions, Katniss volunteers to take her sisters place in the annual Hunger Games. This televised competition forces two tributes from each district to fight to the death, resulting in only one survivor. Throughout the film The Hunger Games, what happens to Katniss is very similar to what happens to her in Collins’s novel. In Catching Fire, it is not Rue’s death that initiates the rebellion but Katniss’s defiance against the Capitol during the games. This slight alteration adds a level of excitement to the movie which keeps the audience entertained and sets things in motion for the

The most significant of these differences was that the movie showed many scenes from other points of views that were told in the third person while in the novel, it was all from Katniss's point of view and only showed what Katniss experienced. For example, in the movie, there were several scenes of President Snow, the leader of the Panem and Seneca, the Gamemaster. These scenes depicted them talking about Katniss and her actions and allowed you to understand what happened to make the hunger games possible and the darker truth of the dystopian city. In one scene, Seneca and President snow were discussing why they had a winner in the Hunger Games even though those games were a reminder of what happens when rebel against the Capitol.…
