The director chooses to throw the audience into truman's life showing the audience that truman is an ordinary person just like them, the director show the audience his daily routine showing how he goes to work the how he gets to work, what happens at work and then his house and family.
For all of truman's life he has had no clue that he has is being recorded or that he is the star of the biggest tv show.
The man in control of truman is called christof, christof has all of the power over truman and truman is unaware of it.
Christof uses physical and mental ways to keep truman from leaving the island/ show set.

The pigs maintain control through power and fear,
This makes the other animals unconfident to the point until they have no will to fight back or fight for their rights.
When they were under the control of farmer jones they were underfed and slaughtered when they ran out of use or were fat enough to sell for meat, the only thing that was stopping them from revolting was that mr jones punished the animals that misbehaved. But with the pigs in charge the animals will be killed for revolting.
The animals are using there power for there own pleasure while christof is using his power for business.
In animal farm the pigs trick the animals that they're living the good life when they're not, likewise in truman show truman is thinking that he is living the good life until he discovers the truth about his life.
Truman realises what he thought was the good life was missing something, he realised it was missing freedom.
Weir shows us the desperate journey that someone would go on for freedom for the goodlife.
