Comparison And Contrast Of The Hamptons In The Summer

Decent Essays
This assignment is a comparison and contrast of the Hamptons in the summer, and the Hamptons in the winter. I included this essay because I felt that it captured my home town perfectly. I thought that it would be fun to compare the fancy, bustling beach village, with the casual, desolate winter village. There was nothing that I disliked about this assignment. Originally, I made some grammatical errors, and left out some details, but I was able to revise them. Aside from a few mistakes, it was a perfect example of a compare and contrast essay.

In the first paragraph of essay A, there was a meaningful introduction to the quote that was later used. Even before reading the quote, I already had an idea on what the quote was about and how it was used as evidence for the argument. I thought that there should have been a better transition from the writer’s voice to the author’s voice because it felt like there was a sense of urgency when the writer said, “He later states that...”. The writer should have included more information before the quote to show the relevance of that quote. There was a clear understanding of why the quote was chosen; it was chosen to portray how Appiah agrees in whatever Charles Taylor had to say.…

Based on My Essay 2 work, the comments or feedbacks help me to improve for the next essay which is the Research Paper. It helps me to build my essay into a great one compared to my two essays that I have been done in this course. I learned that I should not stick into one side. For example, in my Essay 2, I should have given pros and cons not just only one side because I mostly give pros and not cons. This is like where I need to balance the arguments between each side.…

Although I haven’t gotten feedback on the essay I believe it better fulfills the meaning of rhetorical analysis as it is defined in this class. Part of the problem with my previous essays was that I was using the same formatting as in my high school rhetorical analysis papers which have a more broad definition of rhetoric. So, I tried to shape my essay for what I believe is expected of rhetorical analysis in here. The paper took quite a bit less work and effort to make using the other definition so I am interested in seeing how the results turn out.…

Since the beginning of my first year at school I have been learning to read and write. Throughout these years I have had a lot of experiences with reading and writing. All through high school we would write responses and essays over books we read. Once I entered college everything changed; I began to learn about writers and people who were known because of their great works of literature. In college, you are held to a higher standard and responsibility than you are in high school; this challenge has encouraged me to work hard and because of this I have become better at writing.…

“The Power of One” also demonstrated my improved method of writing my introduction and conclusion paragraphs. I was sure to begin my essay in an interesting way by opening with a rhetorical question. On top of that I introduced the idea of “the power of one” and continued this idea by concluding my essay with it as well. In addition, in “Shift to Reality” I feel my paragraph development was strong and thorough as I examined the depth at which William Golding brings his novel to a satisfying conclusion. On the other hand, I still feel I struggle with sentence structure and awkward wording as shown in my ALS Ice Bucket Challenge essay.…

In their article Stephanie Owen and Isabel Sawhill explain and compare all factors about going to college and whether people will be successful or not. The common theme throughout the article was how college is a good idea and provides a lot more benefits than getting a job with just a high school graduation certificate. The main factor in the advantages is that the overall money which people will be earning is a lot more if people have a degree. Also a person will be able to go down the route they want too in terms of their occupation as they will be more qualified than others who are trying for the same jobs. I have chosen to analyze an essay called “Should Everyone Go to College?”.…

Title Enrolling the EOF program has lighten up a path in life that would have gone completely undiscovered had I walked alone. Along the path was my introduction to college writing, a class that has improved my writing skills profoundly. At first the tasks given to us on the syllabus seemed daunting, almost insurmountable within the five-week period of the program; it seemed even more inconceivable with the class being only twice a week. However, with the guidance and instruction given to me by the professor and peers I was able to strengthen my work as a student.…
