In the beginning of the film (2013), Luhrmann has Nick talking to a therapist about how he felt about everyone. While in the book, Nick is only giving his opinion and his knowledge of what has happened. In the book, Nick is known for being honest and also for not judging anyone. However in the book, Nick says “I am one of the few honest people that I have ever known.” When Nick said this, it will probably make someone question if he was really a honest person. In the beginning of the film, they describe Myrtle as very beautiful women because her body is more curvy and attractive. Myrtle is a married wife, but she is Tom's lover because he is also cheating on his wife. In the book, Myrtle husband, Wilson, “thinks that Myrtle goes to see her sister in New York (pg28).” “While she actually going to see Tom.” During this time with Tom, in the both the movie and the novel she is shown doing the same thing, but Nick is always with them when they go to apartment to party with Myrtle family. However in the book, Myrtle wants things that Wilson can’t provide her with so she asks Tom for everything. As in the film, she can get anything she wants in a blink of an eye because Tom loves her.
