A COMPARISM OF HR POLICIES AND PRACTICES IN CHINA AND PAKISTAN

INTRODUCTION
 The introduction of globalization has brought an awareness of the differences in partaking in business activities from one country to the other and from region to region. This is because policies and structures that guide the successful conduct of business activities vary.  Human Resource is the most important asset for any organization as it is the source of achieving competitive advantage as well as the development of organisational strategy. In order to succeed, organisations must ensure that they have an effective HRM system in order to achieve organisational objectives.

HOFSTEDE’S CULTURAL DIMENSION
CHINA  Has a high hierarchy for power distance. They believe that inequalities are accepted in the society.  Highly collectivist. They act more on the interest of the group than themselves.  They score high on masculinity and low on feminism. However, there is a high drive for success in the society.  Low score on uncertainty. They are more happy with ambiguity.  High score on Long term orientation. Their thinking is based on full or no confidence. PA K I S TA N  High hierarchy of power distance, however they believe that everyone has a place in the society and needs no moral justifications.

 Also a collectivist society. They hold onto loyalty and commitment more than any other values.  High on Masculinity. Driven by competiton,achievement and success. 
