In this experiment, the metals; Zinc, Magnesium and Copper are put into a glass test tube filled with different molars of hydrochloric acid such as 0.5 molar, 1 molar, 2 molars and water. By soaking theses metals in hydrochloric acid and water, will help determine the strongest and most doable metal in states such as acid rain. The corrosion of a metal is a very common problem to many infrastructures and buildings. Corrosion is defined to be the decaying of a metal from environmental surroundings such as sunlight exposure, moisture and oxygen. For metals to rust or also scientifically known as corrosion, the metals need to react with oxygen. When metals react to oxygen the metal loses electrons to form the “rust compound” which is called metal
