A father and a son are socially known to have a closer relationship than father and a daughter, however, this is not always the case. In “Wordsmith” by Susan Young, and “The Gold Mountain Coat” by Judy Fong-Bates, two fathers struggle to communicate to, though work hard for their children. Both fathers are alike yet very different at the same time, they both work hard, though only the father in “Wordsmith” makes the effort to express his love towards his daughter. While the other is strict and does not even attempt to show or tell his children that he loves them. The relationship between a father and his child can be full of love but nevertheless can be also filled with hate.
