Even though she encounters many difficulties along the way such as beating, jailing and loss of love ones she continued. Her mine aim was to save the forest of Kenya and educate the villagers on how to plant trees. In the year of 1977 Wangari founded the Green Belt Movement. The purpose of this foundation was to teach women how to plant deforested trees in the forest and to get some income from it. It’s said that her foundation has trained over 30,000 women in planting trees. In 2004 Wangari Maathai became the first African woman to receive the Nobel Peace Prize ward.
