After finishing the murder mystery of Mr. Enrico Mantoli in the climatic novel made by John Ball, In the Heat of the Night, the characters have significant personalities that intrigue the audiences to study more about. Two people, Virgil Tibbs and Bill Gillespie are major actors that represent the history culture of America. Virgil Tibbs, a police officer from Pasadena, California came from the north side of America, where Negroes are respected while Bill Gillespie, a police chief from the city of Wells in the south part of America where Negroes are slaves. The contrary culture they have show the symbolic personalities that both characters have where some include distinct physical appearances and different actions. However, these divergent characters are worth investigating at.

When the murder is still on the chase, Virgil Tibbs did not crank up or get anxious, instead, he slowly think through what the case might be to bust the murderer. While he is solving the case, he investigates cautiously to not miss out any information that leads to the case.
