The education of children is an important and popular topic. People are beginning to create programs to help accommodate the enormous amount of preschool ages coming in. There are thousands of different types of preschool programs, ranging from in-home to school districts adding classes. Remington is a good kid, but a clever one and I have grown attached to him because he reminds me of a fox. He is sly, yet clever, which plays in his favor or not depending on the day. Next, Ayden, a little boy who is also five is a total sweetheart to the ladies. I have known him since last year, yet he hasn’t changed at all. Everyday Ayden walks up to me with a piece of paper with both of us on it since he thinks we are married. This little action on a daily basis makes my heart melt because it is just too adorable that he likes me so much. Ayden pulls at my heart strings, so I really don’t get onto him when he does inappropriate actions. There are other children at Head Start who have impressed me but these two boys I have grown super close to, and wouldn’t want it any other way. Head Start is more than a preschool program, it is a family. The program was only a part of where I interned

The Head Start program is a Federal program that was established in 1965 by President Lyndon B. Johnson; this program was designed to assist families and children who were living below the poverty line. “It was designed to help break the cycle of poverty by providing preschool children of low-income families with a comprehensive program to meet their emotional, social, health, nutritional, and psychological needs and support families in improving their lives.” (Head Start, 2015) For many years Head Start was a program to help prepare children for school, and under the Improving Head Start for School Readiness Act of 2007 now the local grantees are “required to develop school readiness goals and evaluate children’s progress toward these goals.”…

The first observation I did was at the Esmelda daycare, this daycare is a family daycare there the woman and husband showed me what they did every day they said that the toddler had hours for everything like what time they eat, how much time they had to play. Esmelda daycare promote language through play time she has book that help the toddlers learn the different animal or the ABC the woman would read the book to toddler by pointing to animal or letter and saying what it was she would also promote language by playing with the toys like counting how many Lego blocks there is or by saying the color of the toy right now. Esmelda daycare is not fully completed with all the material the toddlers need they are in process, but still not being a fully completed daycare you can see that the women and the husband take really good care of children when I was there as she was taking to me if the children need something she would stop and put attention to what the children need instead of just keep taking to me and ignored the child. Compare to the second observation did where each children age group has his own in Esmelda daycare see has all the children together he also has the toy room apart where they just go play when is play time and can’t go in until is play time again.…

Preschool programs should be obligatory as it affects a child’s social skills and behavior due to the exposure of new interactions. Early education can benefit the students and the community because of the decrease in crime rates and the increase in employment and graduation rates. Due to the positive effects of preschool programs, the government should put more of their finances on these programs to help aid families who cannot afford them. The government gives half of their money to the military and a small percentage to education in general. Because preschools decrease crime rates within communities, the government can invest only $8,000 per child per year in preschool programs and avoid investing $90,000 per child per year in juvenile detention (Kristof).…

Both parents also reported that they expected to work close with the teachers and be able to assist their child’s learning.…
