Someone who knows a thing or two about shark behavior can almost guarantee his safety in the water with them. Sharks display many warning signs before an attack but often people do not pick up on them in time. Much like a dog, a shark will arch its back and open its mouth when trying to warn someone that they are too close. Also, aggressive swimming and sharp turns are warning signs of an uneasy shark. When people are educated about this, avoiding attacks is easy.…

“ I couldn’t possibly write Jaws today at least, not in a good conscience anyway,” said Peter Benchley, the author of Jaws. On the other hand, all sharks are different from each other, just like the saying “no two snowflakes are the same” I think it’s the same with sharks no two sharks are the same. However, sharks make me think because they all have their own different identities and none are exactly the same and I wish to have a baby shark sometime in my lifetime. Better yet, I would want a great white shark and when it gets big enough that it won't fit in a fish tank I will take it to the ocean and it can have free reign of which aquatic animals it wants to eat and which ones it doesn’t want to eat. Great white sharks are very unique.…

    Why Do Sharks Hunt?

Sharks are very flexible in their hunting methods and this is proven by Dr. Jayne Gardiner stating that “what impressed us most was not one particular sense, but the sharks’ ability to switch between multiple senses and the flexibility of their behavior” (Rutger). This was demonstrated when scientists from Mote, USF, and the University of Boston blocked a sense from shark and tested its ability to capture prey (Rutger). Sharks were still effective in hunting sans vision or smell, but most could not overcome the loss of electroreception (Rutger). Electroreception is a biological ability that allows sharks to detect electric stimuli in all living creatures (Howell). When a shark has all of its senses, it is one of the deadliest predators in the…
